Chamet Safety Tips

small habits, calmer calls

Safety tips for calls with strangers

Meeting new people on camera is fun when you stay in control of what they see and hear. These are the habits that keep Chamet calls relaxed: set your frame, keep certain details private, and hang up the moment something feels off. How the platform itself protects you is on is Chamet safe.

The golden rule?

Share your personality, not your personal details. And leave any call that asks for money, codes or pressure, then report it.

i.before you tap start

Set the stage you want seen

Your camera shows more than your face. Take a second before each call to check your background and clear away anything personal: an envelope showing your address, a work badge, a window with a recognisable view of your street. A plain wall or a bookshelf says plenty about you without saying where you live.

Think about sound as well as picture. A television in the background, a housemate calling your name or a delivery driver at the door can give away more than you meant to share, so a quiet corner or a pair of headphones helps on every call.

Choose your mode on purpose, too. Video is the default, but if you are tired, out in public or just not feeling camera-ready, start the match in voice or text. You can always switch to video for the next one.

ii.what to keep to yourself

Details that stay off the call

A friendly first chat is no reason to share your surname, address, school, workplace or social handles. People you click with will still be there after a few conversations, and if you want to keep talking, Chamet lets you follow each other and message on the site without swapping anything private.

iii.trust your gut

When to hang up without a second thought

No explanation is required when you leave a stranger's call. If a call makes you uncomfortable, tap next and it ends instantly. Then report the account if they broke the rules and block them so the matcher never pairs you again.

  1. 01

    They ask for money

Gift cards, crypto, coins for them, or a "small loan": always a no. Leave and report.

  2. 02

    They push you elsewhere

Pressure to jump to a different app right away is a well-worn trick. Stay on Chamet or move on.

  3. 03

    They cross a line

Nudity, insults or pressure of any kind. Hang up, report, block. No discussion needed.

Nobody from Chamet will ever ask you for a password or a verification code on a call. Anyone who does is not us.

iv.look after the other person too

Being good company

Safety goes both ways. Say hi, give the other person a moment, and if it is not working, end with a quick "good to meet you" instead of vanishing mid-sentence. Never record or screenshot someone without asking, and never share a call with anyone else. Our community guidelines list the rules everyone agrees to.

Should someone seem or claim to be under 18, hang up and file a report immediately. Chamet is strictly for adults, and those reports are treated with priority.

v.if something already went wrong

After a bad call

Report the account from the call screen or your history, choosing the reason that fits best. If someone is threatening to share something, do not pay and do not negotiate; block them, keep any messages as evidence and write to us at [email protected]. For more on how reports and data are handled, see is Chamet safe.

Safety tip questions

How do I stay private on a video call?

Check your background before the call, keep personal details like your full name and address to yourself, and use voice or text mode whenever you would rather not be seen.

Someone on a call wants money. What now?

Hang up, report the account and block it. Real conversation never needs a payment, gift card or code.

Can I stop a person from matching with me again?

Yes. Block them from the call screen or your history, and the matcher will never pair you two again.

Is it okay to leave a call without explaining?

Always. Tap next and the call ends instantly. A quick goodbye is kind, but you never owe anyone a reason.

Someone is threatening to share my call. What now?

Do not pay or negotiate. Block them, keep the messages, report the account and email [email protected] so we can act.
